End of the story? Sony says "sorry"

Just an update on an oh-so-last-month story that some who visit here regularly might be interested in - Manchester Evening News reported on Friday that Sony has said "sorry" to the cathedral for its use in a video game...

On a slight aside, I do find it interesting to see which stories live on in the media for a long time, which get followed up some time later, and which get quietly forgotten.

We're guilty of this as well.

Take the Alan Johnston story for example. We've put up his picture and some hopeful words on our blog a few times now, but no one has commented on his release yet.

It's as if the kidnapping and waiting was more important than his release into freedom.

Indeed. Although I kind of figured that most people would have seen his release news by now, given the profile it was given... And someone else could have posted a note... ;-p But on that story, do you think anyone will go back to him a month or a year from now and report how he is, what impact it had, etc?...

To be clearer, I more meant the stories like this that make headlines for a few days, ne'er to be heard of again. But general point taken.

I thought that about the flood victims in Halifax & Hull.. they'll have months of stress trying to sort things out, but the press have quietly dropped the issue - not raining any more, problem solved..

OTOH you get things like Diana that drag on for years even though they're not (in the grand scheme of things) that important.

I'm not sure there's a lot of sense to it - just what the media seem to be thinking of at the time.. they assume that everyone thinks like them and make it headline news until they get bored and start caring about something else.

DIANA'S NOT IMPORTANT?! Her death was the single most important thing EVER to happen to mankind EVER. Have you not read the Daily Express recently?!
