For what my tuppence is worth – it looked good on the telly (hey that’s what the Beeb would have wanted first and foremost) but we didn’t get the best experience walking behind the cross, missing most of the action in the square and elsewhere, and having to “enjoy” the “real Christians” singing Shine Jesus Shine. No, really.

It felt like the whole march bit was shoehorned in to pacify the local churches. And (as someone commented) keep us out of the way so we don't do something annoying like, for example, sing Shine Jesus Shine.
Forcing us into a narrow corridor down the side so we couldn't see the other stage (I didn't even realize there *was* another stage until I saw it on TV) was just rubbing it in.
