the Word

the Word
The Word became flesh and blood
and moved into the neighbourhood.

The word is, God became a baby:
depended on others for food and water,
and maybe, even, love.

The word is, God learned to crawl,
Just like any other normal child.

The word is, God took his first steps,
Literally: as a toddler,
He set out on a journey.

The word is, God set out on the journey
Of life itself. He learned to live.

And the word is that God has gone before us
Once again, to prepare the Way,
To make it straight.

As one journey ends, another begins,
And though we can’t touch him,

The word is that he’s with us in Spirit,
Reaching out to touch us,
And teaching us to walk.
