I think that Dave's Cartoon Blog version of my filing system just about sums up my day/ week/ month/ year/ six-years-of-freelancing so far...
And to prove it, and simultaneously shame myself, here's a shot of my desk from this morning (looking tidier than normal I have to say)...
Desk contents: box of headed paper/ comp slips, three project files, box of misc cards/ stickers/ notes/ flyers, pen pot, two dirty mugs, one dirty bowl, postal scales, receipts/ finances file, jar of chocolate spread, my lunch, a request for information relating to non-domestic rates, my to do list, several pads of post-its, three small piles of things that are vaguely pending, my palm, my telephone and of course all my PC paraphenalia...
In short: too much stuff.

Laura... how I wish my desk was as tidy as yours (seriously!)
Yes, much tidier than mine too. Though I don't have a dirty bowl and I only have one dirty mug and one dirty glass.
And sadly, no chocolate spread.
I am incredibly suspicious of people with tidy desks. They clearly have no work to do.
Maybe I should clarify? This for me is a pretty messy desk. Not the worst it's been for sure, but pretty bad. Each item is a scolding reminder of things that NEED to be done. After all, I am a professional project manager (three scary words). If my desk is a mess, well... frankly, there's no hope for my projects, clients, etc.
