James Cameron, who froze Leonardo DiCaprio to death and therefore demands your respect, has a theory on the Red Sea.
In a documentary due to be made by the director, he puts forward a claim that a volcano caused a tsunami and 'parted' the sea. It even triggered the ten plagues that were smited upon Egypt.
I'm not sure I really trust Cameron. He ended up ruining the Terminator franchise and he used to drive a truck, and we know
how much trouble truck drivers can cause.

This is not a new theory... some of the ideas are pretty convincing, the resulting storms causing the harvest to be brought in early and wet, maning that it festered in the storage pits and the first born died due to fungus being released (it was apparently the job of the 'number one' son to fetch the grain from the store)... it has also been used to 'explain' the column of fire and pillar of smoke (being the plume from the volcano - with the glow from the heat only being visible in the dark) There was a documentary prog on this a few years back, can't remember what it was on though.
Gawd bless the good ship Cameron and all who sail in her.
