'I am comic vicar to the nation'

A really thoughtful and interesting interview by Alan Rusbridger with the ABC himself, Rowan Williams.

I really can't believe the lack of chat about this, on the blogs I read anyway... so let's try starting something...

That's a bit of out of context fun by the newspaper. They also printed the whole transcript:

From that whole interview, which had some really interesting stuff in it, they got two stories:

"Archbishop: stop teaching creationism"
"I am comic vicar to the nation"

Neither of which are what he said.

He actually said (as I read it) that the *church of england* is under pressure to comic vicar to the nation because people expect it to just make moral pronouncements on issues without actually having any effect.

I notice that they didn't report what he said about Fresh Expressions either...
