Dear City Life reader
It is with deep regret that we announce that City Life magazine is to close.
City Life began publishing in December 1983 and has been bringing you all your essential Manchester listings since then. We are grateful to all our loyal readers for their support over the years.
The magazine will be published for the final time on 7th December 2005.
Thanks you once again for being a loyal City Life reader.
Kind Regards
CITY LIFE STAFF

Stunned!
I saw the 'save City Life' leaflets at the Dancehouse a few days ago.
Manchester is a much worse place without it. I feel for the journos.
On a side note...
The vast majority of mags are sold through the big distributors (WH Smith, Menzies, Dawson). These three have struck deals with magazines that *guarantees* that minor mags will stay on the shelves in the smallest newsagents.
Tesco, meanwhile, are trying to break these deals by forcing the big three to work to 'Tesco terms' (mass purchases of, eg, Heat at a huge profit to Tesco). As Tesco do exclusive deals with major titles, smaller loss-making distributors will pick up the crumbs (Farmer's Weekly, Gay Times, whatever). The crumbs won't be enough, the companies go under, and specialist mags will disappear.
Print journalism is disappearing. I may be old fashioned, but I find that very worrying.
AAAARGH, the Box is playing Mariah Carey. Must get out of this room. AaAAAaaaAAAAAArgh---
