I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand Bob and Bono know what they're talking about.. they've been doing this for 20 years! Live Aid definately did help (and probably averted a worst disaster than we've already got).

However this latest one really felt like Bob phoning up his mates for a get-together. There's an element of us wanting to do 'something' so we do *anything* to make us feel less guilty... I actually think live8 was counterproductive - there was virtually no press coverage of the demonstration in Edinburgh, as it was swamped by the rock concert.

IMO an opportunity was missed - where was the '*you* can make a difference.. get involved and tell your MPs exactly what you think of them' message (the majority of the audience probably don't vote and so why should the politicians care what they think anyway? As long as most people don't 'do' politics this situation won't change... tell them that politics is Live8, armbands, marches as well as pensioners sat in an old building in London and you might change that).

If the average floating voter doesn't care about the issue you could have 10 million in London for all the politicians care. If fear the Daily Mail will be onto another story by next week and it'll be forgotten.
